TAG-IE 2/3

3 options really.

Continue with Tag-ie until it stops working. Likelihood of that being in the middle of lambing.

Change to a different reader now and take the financial hit even though my reader is still working.

Give up on recording and progeny linking.

Has been suggested that if I get another reader then the agrident 300 would be a good option. I can’t really justify the £1500 plus on the shearwell system for 500 ewes.
Similar situation here, though I wasn't with tag ie, but an independent guy who has packed in due to ill health.
bugger
Sames.

this tech stuffs got to last a .resonable lentgh of time...

i might go shearwell but stickreader and tablet (phone screen bit small for me) / app might be enough for us
Does the app with farmworks software do everything the Psion does now?

Tag-ie has gone bust :(

I have a Tag-ie 2 reader and have been getting on ok with it.
I’m not sure what to do,the reader still works fine but if there is no backup/upgrades available is it worth looking to change now?

Me to, at least the one I have now seems to keep working,

Try in with our software for free. You are more than welcome to trail it for as long as you like. Its all fully functional and has no restrictions and works well with the Tag ie. Just download the software from our website and you have a fully working program zero obligation by the way! But at least it will show you how the Tag ie can be incorporated into your record keeping.

That was then. Not now.

Same here Andy
Always had excellent customer service from Bob but unfortunately I can’t get through on any of the numbers I have and the website is also down.
Bob is a greay guy and always tries to help.

The link to download the software is www.farm-software.co.uk and click the Download Free Trial button.

Happy to help its what we do and I stress there is zero obligation or hassle... ask Bob!

Give us a ring (0191 3000 189) anytime if you need help.

Bob did a runner to Black Isle from Devon. Leaving behind a very angry Farm Matters who then blocked the so called ‘free access ‘ software and asked for a ransom to use the Tag ie. handset.
So, one year’ s worth of use for our handset. An expensive lesson. :banghead:

Tag ie reader was the most expensive piece of junk i ever bought! throw it in the bin and forget about it. Although many members on here got on well with Bob Senior ours never worked properly from day 1, after endless repairs he promised a new reader then went on for months not answering calls and not replying to emails. Eventually got hold of him on another number to be told he never sold me the reader and i had bought it from Grovedime, then went on to say grovedime was a limited company that no longer trades due to collapse of tag reader sales because of brexit. Shame he lives so far from us or i could tell where to shove his stick reader!

@Poorbuthappy the app is best described as complimenting the Psion not replacing it.

Above the apo, the Psion does weights &DLWG, birthing traits, birth weights and probably abit more.

App doesn't do any weights, even birth weights (records births bit not weights)

App is much better for writing comments and also finding comments (if you scanned a animal a little hazard symbol shows for comment)

Total package is brilliant

I started with a tagie..... it was complete shite.

Fortunately shearwell were able to salvage most of my data & trsnsfer on to their farmworks program

I kinda agree with you although it’s a bit like comparing a Zetor and a Fendt.
Both will do the job but as an entry level reader it is ok.
Im still trying to persuade Dad that recording, weighing, progeny linking etc is the way to gain information to make decisions on flock management so it’s difficult justifying the most expensive reader in the market.

No data recording here, except tags of store lambs when they're sold. So this was ideal for that job.
The sheep are kept in the batches (flock numbers ) they came in with and spray marked. So any meds records are easy. No progeny - we hope.

Another option to farmworks would be to use NLMD (free), then pay the extra sub (£30 I think) which lets you do weights, meds etc, via stick reader and mobile/tablet app

the Stockrecorder looks better value if you take in to account the full farmworks software it cw ..especially cattle as well .
ive had the flock farmworks on pc for years but it doesnt do individual animal data in the same in depth way
