Tandem axle slurry tankers

Did see his video, just wondering would they stick contracting?
I guess there can’t be much between the top 3 budget tankers

ive never heard of them before I saw his video. Thought it was odd but they look ok from the pictures I’ve seen. I suppose if his is still going in 20 years it will be ok.
I do know where there is a star tanker still going which would have to be 25 year old and everyone seems to think they were rubbish.

We had star tankers for years, lasted well and were simple enough for most dairy farmers to use 😂

Never seen anything wrong with STAR tankers, held in high regard by most who owned them. Some testament to them that there are a few scooting about yet. Sam Waterson was manufacturing and exporting machinery made in Aughrim all over the world in the early eighties, a thing that was unheard of then for a local engineering company, was way ahead of the game,

Afternoon all

I’ve searched on here but couldn’t find a thread.
Considering upgrading our tanker to increase output. Choices are Hi spec/abbey/Redrock 3000 gal single or tandem axle. Maybe a tandem axle 3500 as it’s not much more in price. What I’m not sure of is the manoeuvrability of a tandem compared to single axle tankers especially swinging into gateways. Wondering if anyone could shed some info or experience?

thanks
I was in customers yard with a load of wheat yesterday and he had contractor in with a Conor 2700 gallon tank and 1050r32 tyres tanking out pig slurry. Certainly looked well shod. I think I'd prefer that over tandems up to 3000 gallon size, always think with floations and tandem axles you need to go steering axles.

I’ve seen some makers do 3000gal single Stepped axle and some won’t offer the stepped axle as it exceeds the load rating of the axle which makes you think how are the ones that use a stepped axle get away with it as they’re similar in weight

Same way as people are running about at 55k with single axle tankers that have tyres only rated for 30k at that loading. Most don't care, their attitude is still doing its job. Same as buying a 4500gal tri-axle dribble bar tanker complete with ring hitch and hydraulic brakes, don't worry it'll be fine.................

do you mind me asking what axle was underneath the hi spec. Was it a Chinese hos? ( not knocking these makes because they are backed by distag and are fitted to a good few different tank manufacturers)
I know for the single axle 2.5k gal tanks they are rated to 16 ton these would be 420 x 180 or 420 by 200.

My herron came on a hos axle. No trouble really only slight issue would be the brakes on the left wheel need adjusted occasionally
