Tandem Axle Trailer Parts

Hi,

Following the changing of the wheel and tyre this morning (ball ache to say the least), I am now looking how to find out what parts I will need to repair the hubs etc, as I had the missing studs, and then both 24mm and 27mm nuts on the affected hub, so i'm not sure where to start on this one, as I am not able to say what make the trailer is etc, so I would like to understand if these items will be std or are there manufacturer specific parts that I must be aware of.
In addition - what size studs would be std on these 6 stud hubs, as I assume I may have two different types due to the two different size nuts?

Put some photos up, someone will recognise the trailer or axle make and type. Too many variables . Or strip out a stud and measure and speak to Hunton Legg.

I'll take some photos of trailer and axles, but can't safely strip down just yet as I'll need some additional supports to make it safer whilst stripped down as it will sit for longer - as no point stripping it down twice.

You will have to whip the drum off and knock the brocken one out. Then measure the serated bit diameter (the hole in the drum) and the diameter and length of the stud. If they were 27mm nuts they’re usually 18mm threads.

They will be something like this

But this trailer has 24 and 27mm nuts, which I assume means someone bodged it hence looking for insight as to what should be correct..

As its a braked trailer - suppose the hubs are gonna be a PITA to remove too..

I would try to get them on to the 27mm nuts if you can get the studs. The drums on agri axles usually fall off quite easy!! You can just remove the castle nut and remove wheel and drum off, slide a thin sheet of steel or plywood under the wheel and use the sheet to pull the wheel out.

Maybe just the photos but looks like balance beam bushes are pretty slack also, eg wheels sitting in at the top?

No you are seeing it correctly, they do sit in quite a bit - wasn't sure if that was normal as it came like it.
Something else to look at once I know the make or parts required.

The 27mm nuts could have extra metal and fit same thread as the 24mm ones, presume you mean spanner/socket size.
The 24mm ones were usually harder to get off

pretty sure that's a dragon trailer from near wrexham Burgess used to sell them you need take picture of end cap on hub and measure axle beam square guess it would be 70 mm and measure the brake drum size guessing 300x60 I think the axles will be Italian saleti but best bet strip it down

As long as the blocks are under the axle and it's on flat ground it's not going anywhere...

Would never suggest anyone do something unsafe but it's not like axle stands are impossible to topple over...
