3" valves and big enough to take more than a wagon load. Make sure there is plenty of fall and somewhere you can wash it out easily. Vertical tank would be ideal.

I TRIED THAT LAST YEAR BUT AT £137 PER TON FOR A 29 TON LOAD IT WAS FAR TOO DEAR AS IT MADE THEIR DUNG SO LOOSE THAT MORE BEDDING WAS REQUIRED
The promol 40 or 20 actually stacks up better on paper than dear potale.
The fact it’s wanted elsewhere has taken the shine off the whole lot of it. When I started using it no one wanted it at any cost.

What’s others being quoted for pot ale? So far £92/ton for half an artic load.

I get it put into IBC’s as at least you can wash them out, there’s a big variation of pot ale, from stuff so thick it won’t flow at all to stuff that runs like water. If I get thick stuff again I will try and find some kind of heater element that will work well in an IBC.

Just use IBC containers. You can pick them up for next to nothing. Sit them on pallets/blocks just high enough to get a bucket under the spout. A brick at the back to tilt them to get the last out... cheap and easy.

It's what I do for my liquid feed

We got ours from these guys.

Just draw under tank with mixer and drop it in. Easily filled too. Takes just over a artic load so have a bit of a buffer between loads.

Wouldn't want to work ibcs. Use them for mollases and takes up a lot of time/messy. Not safe emptying/opening above mixer.

We're out of cows now but always reckoned pot ale fed far better than it analysed, as opposed to a mol blend which fed worse than analysed. Mind, pot ale was £28/t from memory when we started using it, sounds a tad dearer now :eek:

If possible find an industrial vertical silo with a conical base, like a feed bin for liquid. No matter how fast you use it, a clay like sediment builds up in the bottom of flat bottomed tanks. I sold my old tank as seen, there was eighteen inches of it in the bottom, chap had to hire a crane to lift it onto a lorry, and cut a hole in the side and dig it out when he got it home. After hiring another crane to lift it off [emoji85]
