Tanker problem

Have a problem with slurry tanker.

It sucked a lot of watery slurry other day no problem went spread it come back for another load and won’t suck it in it’s very watery so thickness isnt the problem.

Had pipe that comes off pump to top of tanker sucks no problem plenty power.
Put hose on and open back door it fills the hose but that’s about it won’t pull it into the tank.

God knows what’s wrong.

Any ideas.

Checked both doors made sure spread door is sealed and fill door is opening fine.

Sounds like it’s either drawing air somewhere . Sometimes ours gets slow to fill so run couple litres diesel straight through pump

Frothy liquid ? Ours doesn't like sucking it

It isn’t sucking the bottom of the pipe in on itself is it? Not a thing u can see when it’s in slurry. Ours does that as pipe is worn so keep cutting 6 inch of it

Good answer . Or pipe sat on the bottom of the pit

Pipe blocked? Is it pulling the needle down on the gauge? If after running on suck for a minute if you open the fill door with no pipe on it does it woosh in air?

The balls in the slurry check valves? If I give mine too much speed, the ball in the slurry trap can fly up stopping the suction, usually can tell by the sound. If there's no big leaks anywhere, and air is coming out of the exhaust, then it has to create a vacuum. Have you a working pressure/ vacum gauge on the tanker? What does that tell you?

Are you supposed to run diesel through them regularly to clean ?

Helps a lot if its been idle for a while ,and the vanes have stuck in the rotor slots. Put it turning slowly on spread, then it gets the chance to soak and do some good in the bottom of the pump.

I was trying to make it complicated thinking how to put it in through the oil drip feed or something, but that is really simple

too thick in cold weather , they are better run on a thinner oil and they don't need diesel , either that or thin the oil down with diesel all the time .

Pipe that comes off top of pump to top of tanker could be sucking in on the inside when under pressure! You can’t see it from the outside,inner core of pipe becomes detached! New piece of pipe and try it!

cut a half round out of the bottom of the hose or cut a vee with a hacksaw so it cant suck to the bottom and see if that helps
or as already said froth lifting the ball in the float box
