We had a 60mm base and 40mm hot rolled asphalt surface for about £25 a sqm supplied and laid, so at 300m x 3m? wide = 22k, + vat with mobilisation and setup cost etc ontop too

Road planings aren't a bad substitute, we did 1.4km x 4m wide x 5" deep

Agreed but get the camber right, roll the hell out of it and put a membrane down first.

That said, there is none for sale in this part of the world, I'm v grateful I took a huge amount when the price was sensible, I was amazed to find out local stocks were nill

What’s the best way to go about resurfacing tarmac that had a 60mm base but no wear course (unfortunately) and now has wear (but not potholes)

Can you just add a wear course or do you need a 20mm base plus wear ?

wearing course could go ontop if existing base surface is very good condition (no rutting), clean... very clean!, and not been polished from use, needs a decent tack coat sprayed on existing surface before laying.
40mm is minimum we would have any layer laid at, even a base top up, in past we have topped a poor 60 base with another 40 base and then surface dressed.

It’s polished and a bit rutted now but not pot holed

What would 40mm on top plus axwrar course cost / m2 roughly ? Big job 0.7miles 3m wide I think
