We have a job where by I need to cover a roof whilst reslated it. The intention was to tent over the whole roof, now have been told that's not quite so easy.
Looking for a heavy tarpaulin type material, any recommendations of what to buy and where from.
The usual then grade stuff can be found ebay!!

The roofing membrane is fairly waterproof, "felt" and batten is usual practice around here with some of the thin ebay stuff over it if exposed for a week.
Knowing Cornwall it will just blow away whatever you use.

Something cheapish like a roll of visqueen or silage sheet so you can screw a baton on through it to the roof batons, roofers then start at the bottom and work up opening the sheet as they go?

thanks for the replies, this particular area of the roof has a fair bit of carpentry work required, which was was why we were hoping to have a tempory roof, and not have to keep it water tight at night, might just see how we get on with hd silage sheet

Is the scaffolding and tent horrendously expensive, it does seem to be the way forward round here, allowing work all winter.

yeah the tent would be the way forward, however reading between the lines the quote for the tent was wrong (someone messed up) and they will have to re quote and is now most likely to be a lot more, partly because i asked for half the roof to be done. Turns out they cant really do half on its own without erecting the other half, due the supports.
