Tax relief on Red Diesel being scrapped in budget?

Seriously now, how many construction crews will suddenly have a few tractors about the place and offer a bit of agricultural contracting?

How the ministry intend to police this I have no idea.
cart around a telecsopic or a farm truck on a lowloader with a farm tractor and you can get your tank dipped as do tractors carting soil with dump trailers
oil company invoices have to state what use on the red fuel invoice if you are not a farmer the vat inspector will spot it

There were already restrictions in using red diesel for example haulage work on non agricultural work. I believe that two tanks one red and one white that you could switch between wasn't allowed either

Just saw a tory MP on sky saying this is to encourage the most polluting vehicles like diggers into electric ones. What f**king electric ones?

Never thought id see a tory govt come up with this crap

I thought the new E5 soon to be E10 diesel and the AdBlue and the new engines meant tractors are as clean and efficient as they can be
Otherwise what is the point of AdBlue ??

Perhaps we should start charging NFU members for all the help and guidance they get on here , funny they stopped the Rally when we set them straight about it
Obviously the NFU top brass came on Clive's forum to see what the opinion was on the virus.
TFF didn't manage to change Clive's mind on his well paid speaking engagements. He did say it was business.

there’s no such thing has electric diggers yet and will take years to develop and where is all this electricity go to come from when where all running around in glory fide milk floats ? Personally I can see in two years time after consultation with the building industry the whole idea been scrapped and it will be business has usual .

Will be interesting to see how "agriculture" uses get clamped down on - eg hauling grain long way, doing some fence work and grass cutting etc with farm equipment.
Agriculture will be clamped through having to compete with dirt cheap imports from places with which we will almost certainly be unable to. Whether diesel is rebated or not.
Agricultural use of red is retained specifically because we will bare the brunt of Brexit. Trains will retain it because train travel is already extraordinarily expensive in the UK and raising prices will have a significant negative effect on prices and incomes.

Have seen electric ones but they are hardly a ready to go alternative to modern 13ton and bigger ones right now. Maybe in the future.

Assuming im fine running my digger on red for agri use for myself or the neighbour?

You can be sure they have larger ones on the drawing board but lack a market because of the higher cost...
This is. about as large as electric diggers get...

I can’t wait to see what happens on a cold winters night when all the big quarries and construction sites put there equipment on charge and the public come home and put there car on charge and the electric oven on and the heating and lights on !
And what about all the quarries and construction sites not near mains electric to charge there diggers up ?
o wait a minute I have a cunning plan !
maybe there could use so sort of portable Charging device like a diesel generator ???
