Tb compensation and pedigree reactors.

Not wishing to disagree @matthew but I was always led to believe that on farm dispersals and market averages were lumped together for the valuation table and then split into pedigree and non pedigree categories.

Could be, but when tabular was introduced (2006) ‘market price’ was exactly what it said. When you think about it, some on Farm sales will have averaged megabucks if they included cattle for ET work.

@gone up the hill & @matthew Oh you naive innocents - when was this ever meant to be "fair". They have decided how much they have in the coffers to pay for their failed control of TB and divvie it up between yet more dubious research and animals that need to be slaughtered because it doesn't work. It isn't fair it is just how it is.
Farmers don't have the same sway as people with votes - or money to pay for "SPADS" and junkets.

And breathe
.........Sorry

I’m not naive, and I agree with you.
In fact most if not all of the bricks in the wall of ‘dealing’ with the effects of TB restriction, rather than the cause of any wildlife interface, are being dismantled, one course at a time.
Hence my question in post #18.

We’re on our own. IMO of course.
And there’s more votes in a dead cow than a dead tuberculous badger.

(I'll edit that last phrase: very few of the general public would vote for badger control, given that the unpleasant facts are well hidden behind emotive claptrap . Whereas cows get killed anyway, don't they? That appears to be the opinion of the policy makers.)

It's been spoken about, but not sure if or when it comes in for England. (This is compensation for animals purchased under licence, during a breakdown. If they too were reactors, then only 50% would be paid).
How the hell can this be legal!!!!!
This would put people out of business fast.

Yes.
Or they would have to deal with the problems skittering infection into their cattle herds themselves, and thoroughly, while APHA continue to test (and shoot) sentinel cattle.
so the gov is going to force farmers to break the law or go out of business ?
nice

APHA have a lot to answer for with us. They've fell short on numerous issues and are continuing to. If halving comp of newly bought in did come in, we would see them in court and create the biggest sh1tstorm for them.

You may be a quitter, but some of us won't be beaten !

2014 : 140
2015 : 160
2016 : 124
2017 : 97

I can't find the figures for 2017 county by county , but they show things are improving in the High risk area ,but getting a lot worse in the edge area.
Try getting 300 for a suckler. It's not a case of "quitting". It just makes no business sense.

APHA no longer publish county figures, as far as I can see. Which is a shame as the new format is not comparable.
Which is the object of the exercise, of course.
