Feeling pretty sick here,
10 reactors today, 6 of which are out of 3 new generations of 30 young hill cattle to rebuild the herd after it was last decimated.
3x 1st calve heifers (out of 10) calves all clear though.
2x in calf heifers (out of 10) due to calve in may.
1x yearling heifer (out of 10)

All home bred and selected to live on the moor. Like hefted sheep, irreplaceable apart from breeding more ourselves.

Biggest joke is that the cattle are needed by our landlord to graze the SSSI......yet they are currently against culling :mad:

So sad so frustrating not looking forward to our Herd test next week sounds like the breakdowns are increasing and I got to test early cause I'm contiguous.. I wonder how many farmers are thinking about the future and what else to do because of this relentless disease and the politics of it all.

Fairly sure if you send an IR for slaughter, you basically have to start test again from scratch, ie, wait 60 days from when ir goes, and will be treated as if it was still on holding, so 2 clear tests required. That's what it was for us but thankfully that was nearly 20 years ago

We tested back in dec because of contiguous test. Wasn't due a test till may.Had letter today to say nothing found in 1 reactor and 4 irs .Depending on your area now just go straight onto severe. No follow up lab tests anymore .Nothing about farms history or if it's closed herd your now a leppa that's just become a statistic .They don't give a flying f###
All centralised now! Got the impression just blaming farmers for spreading it .Tell me how a totally closed herd gets it?! I wonder!Either that or the test is just not reliable.
