TB fraud

The initial impression given by this piece was that Tb fraud is rife and that farmers are faking Tb reactors to take advantage of compensation up to £5K per beast.
The method implied is that farmers are injecting, amongst other things slurry to fake a reaction
This in itself doesnt make sense unless it is pedigree animals concerned and the report then goes on to say that there has been ONE successful prosecution in 3 years and then no detail of what offences were committed.
So having created the impression that there is widescale fraud there is nothing in the report to confirm that this is the case.
Yet another example of Farmer hatred by Countryfile producers , they are a disgrace. Hiw does one subject to this kind of bias gain any redress?

My over riding impression from the piece was that the general public will now believe we all receive £5000 per each animal taken as a tb reactor. My Fiancé sitting beside me, who is not from a farming background, said if I wasn't here to point out we don't get that sort of level of compensation, she would have no reason not to believe what Tom Heap was saying.

Currently going through a very stressful time with TB and the last thing I would be thinking of is defrauding. In any case, animals are valued by an independent assessor so I cannot understand how the fraud would be perpetrated without the collusion of the valuer

He was done for countless offences if you read the report. Not just TB
From reading the report in your link (https://www.farminguk.com/News/Farm...-in-NI-to-be-convicted-of-TB-fraud_50399.html ) it was all connected to the TB case, as far as I can see.
The shocking thing is (apart from them actually wanting to fake TB) was the paltry fines - £200 for one and £450 for the other.

The introduction to the feature on Countryfile was, IMHO, the worst piece of biased, misleading journalism by the BBC I've seen. Anyone, not from out industry, hearing that will think TB fraud is rife - I may be wrong but this is the only case I can find by searching on the internet. The BBC continue to lose credibility, daily.

It's to be hoped that someone can take up the Owen's case and get some justice for them.
