Where is the best place to find out about TB rules or is it best to just ask here? I have done a quick google search and could only find press releases.
Had an IR today on our 6 month test after have 2 clear 60 day tests. Pretty sure we have to have a whole herd test next but does she get taken or have a second chance? And are we back into having to have 2 clear 60 day tests and not being able to buy in untill we have the first test.

Each farm is treated on its history/risk/ what county it is in etc so can only give advice.

You should only have to re test the IR in 60 days, and will only have to test the whole herd if its a Reactor or IR again..

First time IR shouldn't be taken..

What the IR does mean for your herd is that the cattle have been exposed to TB so only a matter of time before you will be getting reactors..

My opinion/experience suggests she will be taken away and you will be back to whole herd tests at sixty days. Regardless of the outcome of her slaughter!

We have only just gone clear as had 4 react on a test this time last year. So our history isn't good as had been shut down for over a year up to then. Which is why I think we have to have a whole herd test as our neighbour was in the same situation before Christmas. His situation has just changed again as a cow he sent for slaughter came back with lesions.

If your in a Tb edge area they may be tougher but in Devon in your situ they would leave the IR and just re-test the one animal in 60 days...

They should just put the whole country on 60 day testing/ remove all the tb cattle movement controls in exchange and be done with it..

Update on the situation. Only The IR needs a retest after 60 days. We are allowed to bring on but only under licence. Also have a licence to move direct to slaughter. Which I think is daft and a waste of paper. Do they pay any special attention to animals under licence in the abattoir otherwise I don't get why you have to have a licence to move direct to slaughter.
