Have just completed first test of three . We have ,yet again had a casualty which I'm convinced is due to the TB testing . A good cow has aborted twin calves . .
Does anyone else suffer losses like this around TB testing .

Hard to prove, i had a hfr tip her calf a day after putting them through the crush for the scour vaccine and tail trimming. Would she have tipped it anyway🤷‍♂️.

It could be worse. Imagine takin a cow to the vets with a twisted stomach and askin them to do an operation and they said try putting some stuf down its throat. So they brought out a pump with pipe on it and put it down her throat and pumped the whole bucket into her but they had put it in wrong and pumped it into her lungs killing her. Cow walked into there crush and died in it then they had the cheek to bill me for treating her? 😠

We had a lovely young cow abort her calf at five months after our whole herd test in 2019. All animals passed the test and she got straight back in-calf to A.I. calving in September 20, only to be taken as a reactor at our test in October of that year. Nothing found at slaughter and not cultured. Her rising two year old in calf heifer daughter has recently aborted her calf at about five months following our recent second clear test. Neither animal was even slightly stressed by the actual test and I am convinced that there is a link between the testing and the abortions.

Did you test her for Neospora?

We do have some abort after Tb nearly always an underlying issue.

Sounds like there’s something else going on there with that family. Whether neospora or something genetic that makes them predisposed to chucking their calf.
On the plus side cattle trade is on fire at the moment.
Yes, that is my concern. They are from a top drawer female family, but sadly if the issue is aggravated by the Tb testing , going onto six monthly from annual, will spell the end of them here! :(

Won't be the first, won't be the last unfortunately. I bet there isn't a large animal vet alive who hasn't killed someone's cow or prized bull trying to dope the fudger before doing a procedure etc. Sorry for your misfortune. I would think however you have a legit reason to complain they have billed you for the job.
