Any one tried pulling a prattley behind their livestock trailer? I’m thinking of putting a hitch on the back. Make going to off ground more efficient

but If its for on public road use i think im right in saying that the law says more than one hitch/pivot point is not allowed ??
Tell that to all the artics I saw last week belonging to the fair ground pulling their 16’ burger vans behind their 40’ trailers.
plenty of silage contractors tow 2 trailers behind each other around here too 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’m sure there’s a few members on here which have trailers behind their snackers?

Traveling showman's guild members (artics) have an exception. They don't need tachos either.

There is a similar exception in place for ag tractors. There's how 5th wheel dollies are legal.

On the price side i dont think its dear at all the prattley 3 way manual scales in nearly 5000 here.

So for a little over three times the price have auto draft and a clamp.

If you want to justify it that way, an autodafting weigh crate is £10-13k, so well on the way to a clamp that does that and more.

Whether anyone can justify the autodrafting weigh crate in the first place though....

Ah, so what about 3x 20t silage trailers? Seen that done a few times to save running the tractors 50 mile 👍🏻

One of the showman’s artics towing a trailer was cooked (steaming) half way up a big hill as I went passed mind, lovely grey Merc - fubared!

yes we used to tow 2 (empty ) silage trailers between jobs with a tractor obviously

if its with a pickup or landrover or however its classified could be a bit different by law at least , and that effects insurance remember.

That’s what I was thinking our silage boys always drag 2 trailers back to their yard. Got some Bluetooth indicators for the back of the prattley and jobs a good un I reckon!
Just googled a bluetooth indicTor. Can you explain why youd have one on the prattley im lost

So if you had it behind a ifor williams Trailer you’ve still got indicators/brakes
Prattley aren't type approved so can't be towed on roads behind a B vehicle. Ag tractor is ok, provided all other laws are met.

No exemption for B vehicles, so 1 artic point only. That's why recovery dollies aren't legal.

Ag exemption allows 2 artic points only. There's also an overall length limit, but can't remember what it is. You can Google that for yourself if you're interested.
