Tea and Coffee

Decided to give up drinking tea and coffee a few weeks ago as i was drinking far to much

Had a terrible headache for the first few days which only served to make me realise just how much of a drug caffeine must be !

few weeks on and i don’t miss it one bit, i'm sleeping far better and feel generally much better, drinking a lot more water as a result and dropped about 150-200kcal a day without having to eat any less !

maybe give it a go ?

Yea, caffeine tolerance and withdrawal symptoms. After about a week the symptoms should stop and your tolerance is gone, too.

Multiple studies suggest modest consumption is ok and may even be good for health but they say this about virtually everything. Giving up alcohol would be a better starting point for many.

I like the idea but I do like a hot drink even in the summer heat, green tea doesn’t really do it. I have reduced beer loads during lockdown and am going to try to keep drinking less as I go back to the pub more.

I'm not a big coffee drinker but even when I am, we only have decaf in the house. Not sure I could make it through a day's work without a cup of tea though!

It grates on me when people at work come out with "I need a cup of coffee to solve this problem" or "Don't talk to me until I've had my coffee" or stroll into the office at 10:30am saying they need coffee to get them going. It's a fashion statement more than anything else. Start on the thing at 8:30am when you're fresh and stop at a sensible time so you're fresh the next morning FFS.

I have phases on Coffee... All of a sudden the smell knocks me sick and i'll leave it alone for a while.
I'm just on a Brew in the morning now, far less than I used to drink. I'd be on 5 or 6 mugs a day at one point.. 2 Teabags Unsweetened No Milk and it had to be Twinings Breakfast Tea.
Now it's Yorkshire or Murroughs Welsh Brew Tea.

I gave up sugar a few years ago and can now drink Coffee black ok , but Tea is now unpalatable to me with out sugar and milk. The biggest challenge I've found is what to replace it with, get bored of the same drinks day in day out. Water just doesn't hit the spot for me either, so now drinking more alcohol evenings

I only drink decaf tea.
Used to get terrible indigestion drinking coffee when I was an agronomist.

Decent coffee requires neither milk or sugar but the caffeine may well be addictive _ Our office coffee machine uses at least a kilo of beans each and every week .....:sneaky:

we were getting though over a kg of beans at home ! if i added up what was being used at work as well it would probably be frightening

i could challenge G.Martin to a tea drinking comp. and probably win... thats caf.and decaf, depending on time of day , i dont however drink it after about 5 pm ....ever.

rarely have coffee mind as the caffeine is a bit too stong and i find and decaf never seems quite so goodtaste wise..

sugar in it makes it more additive , especially with milk as the fat/sugar thing is a n addiction factor..i only use semi skimmed tho and try not to use any sugar unless occasionly its early in the morning first cup or 2...

tea takes the place of food quite often for me and ive never been overweight in my lifetime....so far...:sneaky:
