Teacher sacked for kicking a horse

I am not sure how they go about sacking some one for their out of work activity?
This must set the school up for a massive employment tribunal claim
I don’t really agree with you on this
Admittedly I am now going to cite an extreme example, but, what if a teacher spent their ‘out of work activity’ viewing pornography involving under age children??

Is that okay then because they are not in work?

Surely these cases depend largely on the nature of the ‘offence’ committed and whether or not it be deemed to have a conflict of interest with their teaching profession? Not sure whether or not kicking a horse in a fit of pique should lead to a person being sacked, however bad it may look on video. Some will say yes, others no.

But again the gravity and nature of an offence need to be carefully considered before we dispense what could be equally inappropriate mandatory dismissal, or carte blanche to do as one likes in their leisure time.

poor girl did nothing wrong really, a half arsed kick that hardly landed and a few slaps, its a massive horse. yet again animal that she has spent 1000's keeping in good order with shoes health rugs tack and time - morning noon and night feeding and cleaning in all conditions has been taken away by "do good'ers" utterly stupid to make this a thing , im convinced ill be sent to prison for swearing at my collie dog one day by a do good'er. I just feel so sorry for the woman as this has blown out of proportions written all over it

It’s a window to their character.

I wouldn’t want a neo nazi fundraiser teaching my boys the piano, even if they did do it in their own time.

Out of work behaviour matters to employers.
Very much so . A friend of mine who employs a factory full of workers has a good look at prospective employees faceache / twitter etc etc pages . ....whether he should or not I don't know but it gives him a good idea of who he may be employing .

I didn't see how the horse got loose but kicking/slapping after it had been recovered clearly demonstrates a total lack of understanding of elementary psychology, let alone self control.

Yes, the horse then loaded but I have seen similar behaviour in a horse that definitely had been abused and that one shot into the horse box as it clearly viewed it as a place of safety. I didn't manage to get a hand on that one in two weeks!

Applying the punishment in public also demonstrates stupidity and lack of control. I'd have sacked a school teacher for that alone. Teaching can be extremely frustrating and those who can't control themselves shouldn't be in the job.

You're obviously not someone who has ever experienced the frustration of a stubborn horse, like you have never done something that would look bad if video recorded by someone with a grudge!

If her sacking from her position is not reversed by a tribunal, which I think is very likely then this sets a dangerous precedent. I, personally would not want my children to be taught by someone who exhibits the type of behaviour shown by many of the hunt saboteurs. Presumably if a teacher was filmed trespassing on private land and interfering with hounds that were following a legal trail then that teacher should also be sacked?

I took my daughter to a ponyclub showjumping event a couple of weeks ago and the barsteward pony wouldn't load afterwards, if this had happened at home it would no doubt have received a few whacks but you simply cant do that when there are other people about so it was just a case of patience and persuasion until it went in. this woman should have realised that you cant behave like this when other people are watching .

I agree that she was stupid to do what she did, and can't see why she overreacted, but...

Is there any record of what the person who filmed the incident, or their cohort around the area where horses were being loaded, said or did prior? Sabs are adept at passive aggression towards other people, but don't necessarily understand how their actions are interpreted by horses. Were they the reason why the horse got loose in the first place?

I doubt that the horse is harmed by the experience (horses do have a hierarchy, and dole out harsh reactions between themselves for actions we would see as mild), but it shouldn't have happened.

Not according to Exeter University where the lead of the local sabs "grooms" Uni students to be her hence men and women. She as I understand is a lecturer and gets the students to do the dirty work!
