Are they basically the old gem

The successors to Ransomes/Dorman. Some sort of management buyout in the early 80s when Ransomes were withdrawing from agriculture. I shouldn't think there is any of the old designs being used now, but they were still making something similar to the old Ransomes Hawk in the 90s.

I've never used one, but I've always liked the simple, functional design compared to some of the european manufacturers.
