Teat Dip and teat condition

I have been using Kilco glycodip for quite a few years now and thinking of having a change. Cow teats are too dry for my liking.
Thinking I want to stick with an iodine based product but with superior emollients.

I am aware there are hundreds of products out there. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I went to mixing my own iodine based dip. Not sure that’s the correct thing to do but it allows us to vary the ingredients as needed throughout the season.

currently run 1%glycerine and.6% iodine

Cross that one off then. What about deosan super excell ( expensive) or the kiwikit alternative?

I find Deosan Masdocide the best for skin condition but it's pretty expensive and unpleasant to use because it's so thick. I only use it when were grazing forage crops in winter and cows are seriously muddy.

A good compromise is Deosan active barrier. Still not cheap but good for test condition.

We're using udder protect ultra from DKS, it has replaced deosan active barrier, found it cheaper and teats are in better condition and scc has dropped while using it.

Using the KiwiKit 9:1 concentrate dip with Manuka honey. It's brilliant as you can vary the concentration as conditions worsen. Never had teat condition so good, very pleased.

Who/what is DKS?

We get it through Watermans of Tiverton, our soil is very gritty and will cut up teats this time of year badly and so far so good and have been using since May and had a quick switch back to Deosan to finish off the ibc and scc went up fairly quickly.

I’m using IO 421 from agroserve which seems to be doing a good job, there was a problem with supply earlier in the year and i had to use a couple of other products which weren’t as good, teat condition certainly improved when I reverted back to the usual supply.
