looking at getting a Tedder for the first time,

It needs to cover 3x 10ft mower widths,

Currently looking at pottinger and krone, what are people experiences with these machines?

Ive got a 6 rotor Krone, and when ive borrowed or used other makes they all do a better job of tedding out evenly.

Krone is a good well built machine. How the machine performs in the field is usually down to the operator

The only settings to change on a Krone is the height of the wheels, which in turn alters the angle of the rotors to the grass? God knows weve tried! Maybe the KW 6.70 is a bad model.? Main difference is the length of the rotor arms, the 6.70 ones are short! Borrowing a kverneland tarrup tedder, what a differance, and superior build!

Think the 6'70 was designed for smaller widths, we have a 7'82 with more arms on the rotor, better in silage apparently and 3 x 10' rows run evenly between the rotors

We have a Lely 770. The hook tines seem to be able to spread it well even if the mower swaths don’t match the tedder.

Lely hook tines do a great job.

Malone? or is it mchale? Green Irish built tedder, using the same,or very similar hooked tines to a Lely .

That's exactly what they are not, the hooked tines run heel down and lift the swath away from the floor instead of scratching at it from above like an old hen.

we have a Kuhn does the job well. the choice is yours as all above seem happy with their machines

@john432 My one was crap as i thought ,it left it in rows what ever you did,Until i changed the tine angles on the tine holders, its a different machine now

kvernaland tarrup here very happy with it its the 7.6m one with 6 rotors 7 tines per rotor but it wont spread 3 3m rows right to the edge (you can see the gap every tedder width) <I do it if in a rush but normally only do 2.5 mower widths.

I would look at the 8.9m 8 rotor 6 tine/rotor if you want to do 3 3m widths

I have to admit, its probably 15 years since I read the instruction book, the tine holder centre bush has 3 angle settings, thought it was to adjust well used tines . Did you advance ,or retard the tip of the tine to improve the tedding? Thanks Forever Fent, we learn alot on this forum.

Krone 782 for 3 x 10ft. Excellent as was our 770 before it. Dairy farmer-proof!

We have run a Lely tedder for 6 years, although a 10m one. We've had it alongside Fella, Krone, Pottinger and Claas and the Lely is by far the cleanest tedder due to the hooked tines. It picks up damp run on grass without having to dig the tines into the ground.

The only downside to our Lely is the largeish rotors - when just about dry its hard to leave an even mat of crop, but it's no big problem. as most tedding passes are done before the crop gets to this stage, which is when the Lely really comes into it's own.

The only problem is where do you buy a new lely from now since agco took them over, agco seem to be pushing the fella brand Tedders and rakes and there's no sign of the lely type, think they only bought them for the foragers and balers.
