The old TEF has been at the back of the barn to long, so its now in the workshop. Its in pretty good order, the tinwork good and mechanicaly it runs sweet, appart from the fact after it has warmed up, it smokes, a lot.

Thinking it's probably the valve stem seals, or guides (not sure whats fitted in this engine), was planning to tear it appart over next few weeks as time allows, anything else i should be looking at?

are you sure its a TEF? the P3 conversions will only fit a TE,TEA or TED

if its an old type P3 it probably won't have seals fitted.

You are correct, having looked its a TE.

It looks to me to be a later type conversion with this style of oil filler on the engine, would this be correct

that is a P3.144, an updated version of the P3. should have a bolt on starter motor rather than the type that is held on with two metal straps

That is correct

Anything you suggest I should do whilst its appart? With a bit of luck i was only planning / hoping its only needs rings and valve guides. It runs sweet appart from the smoking
