Has anyone been successful in changing the taxation class in logbook / V5 from 'agricultural machine' to 'tractor' for a JCB teleporter?

The DVLA site specifically says a telehandler can be registered as an agricultural tractor if type approved... just need to know if anyone has before?

The department applies the following definitions which are derived from other relevant legislation.

‘Tractor’ (or a ‘category T tractor’) is defined in EU Regulation 167/2013. It essentially covers vehicles that a layman would think of as a tractor, being a motor vehicle designed to ‘pull, push, carry and actuate’ equipment to perform agricultural or forestry work. Telescopic handlers (telehandlers) can also be type approved as tractors - the operator can check his specific machine by referring to the manufacturer’s information. "

It depends how that model or spec of telehandler was type approved by the manufacturer. The rules for an ‘ag tractor’ are very different from and ‘ag machine’ and different specs of the same machine could be the difference, you would need to get hold of the the approval document to see how ot was homologated.

I’m almost certain JCB loadalls since around 2009 have been registered as tractors. It enabled them to legally tow 10t on the road
