Telehandler tyres

Needing a set of 460/70/24 for a jcb 531/70.current tyres are original good year on front which I imagine were swapped from rear and bkt .probably less than 10 MM tread but got a bulge on one front tyre appearing between trend block.machine very rarely goes out of yard and just mainly loading corn and fertiliser.probably doing a maximum of 100/120 hours a year.anyway am I best to go for ag tread pattern or the non ag tread like a block pattern.ceat tyres seem cheaper than the rest on ag and block pattern.anyone using them.I know you get what you pay for.is it worth paying a bit more for bkt or is a proper industrial pattern worth going for.some times do some hay and straw work on fields but 90% of time in yard on concrete.never travel on road so comfort not really an issue and finally is it worth going to 500s.all advice wellcome and I’m guessing supply may be an issue.alternatively has any one got a pair of 20% good tyres that would probably do.

Had some Firestone Duraforce from Farm marketplace about six weeks ago very pleased so far they were 500s, cheaper and I think the only ones that could actually supply them

if its on concrete all the time have you tried those industrial tyres they use in transfers stations

We have been on Duraforce for a year or so and really rate them, our yard is mostly tar plainings and it doesn’t pull them up as much as the open centre Michelin’s that were on before. Everyone is different though as we swapped block pattern off a new machine this week as the customer wanted open centre.

If icould not find a couple of part worn tyres I would put some new cross ply ag ones on , cheaper and feel more stable when loading grain lorries ,

i would go parts worn (assuming you can find some!!!) if you do so few hours the they will be cracking before they are worn out,

my handlers on bkt and ive got on well with them, came on it prob 3/4 worn

Even if you only go on fields occasionally, ag tread would be useful then?

Got Galaxy/JCB cross plys. Fine in yard and rock solid stable, hopeless in field (compared to radials), wish we hadn't bought them. Slightly wet soil and 536/60 leaves tyre depressions in fields.

I put crossply on Matbro, they couldn't wear out quick enough.

Go for Radials would be my biggest piece of advice. If your only off concrete work is straw and hay in dry weather, give the block pattern a go. With the hours though in your position be looking for the cheapest set of Radials you can find, in whatever pattern they come in, or as others have said, some part worns. I'd stick at 460 too, pretty much standard on telehandlers I think?

nick…I've had a price for my manitou 4 tyres £400 fitted , that's asccenso. So going to give them a go
