Teleporter 247 Ford engine and splitting advice.

Hi. My trusty old eBay teleporter needs some TLC and I'll give the engine the once over at the time. So Ford folks can you tell me if the block can be rebored or is it bore and reline only. I'm confused as you can buy oversize liners and oversize pistons.
The engine is a later type with the lattice webbing on the block as it's had a donor sometime in its 30,000hrs.
Also I need the whole lot out as the brakes need new discs gearbox oil seals need doing etc, so, can you unbolt everything from the frame and lift the frame, rear axle and boom assembly up and pull the skid out from the front or is there a better way?

Yeah that's how you do it.

Boom in air and MAKE some stands and clamp them on frame. They are very unstable.
Skid unit then comes out either with or without engine I think. If leaving engine in you undo the torque converter bolts through the starter motor hole from memory🤔

BUT its alot of work for excuse my rudeness an old dog of a machine!!

You could get a man in to bore and sleeve engine in situ if sump comes off?

But I recommend you send the money on a better machine and scrap that one. Your money and time though👍

Quite right it's an old dog but it suits us fine as we don't have much call for it. The main problem is the transmission seal which is pissing out so it needs splitting. The parts are dirt cheap being an old 550 skid (and NH seem to have all the bits if needed which is not true of other makes) and if you're buying at the bottom of the price range you may get something that is cosmetically and designed better but a money pit otherwise. If I can spend £1000 and a bit of time and get it less smokey, oily and stopping better for a few more years I'll be happy.(it only cost £1250 two years ago,). Also being a small yard most other machines won't turn as sharp as these short wheelbase machines do.

That's fine if you like it. A 247 is anything but short though! Any new or old 4ws will turn miles better.
