We've run Devon's for years, easy calving, very quiet, but biggest down side is unless you finish them yourself they are hard to sell as stores, we've switched to Herefords and could sell twice the amount we have, especially the heifers.
We sold some Ruby Devon Dairy crosses in the store ring this back end and was not much interest in them. Looking at them job to tell the difference to a Limmy but the Finishers were not keen. 24m bullocks in very good shape making us 760 same size limmys we were selling making 890. Saying that the calves are cheaper to buy in??? Its all one big gamble!!!
