W/barley on ear as of Monday 13th may.
That's in Suffolk in light sand soil. Same crop is now being irrigated! Looks good though

New take on an old saying,
Six weeks from ear to shear. ( shear= binder/sythe, stouking , stack, thrash.
Added 4 weeks to be fit for combining

How does irrigating Winter Barley ever pay, especially with grain price heading south daily?

We usually water all our cereals at least once as if we don't it won't be worth cutting, although they won't be getting any this year as it's had enough from the sky. The amount of water they get usually depends on how much the veg crops need.
