An overwhelming majority of truck owners over here use them as cars or status symbols. Makes it hard if you want a plain old work truck. Nigh impossible to get a regular 2 door cab anymore, special order for the most part.

the highest selling vehicle here for God knows how long is the Toyota Hilux. Admittedly that includes ALL Hilux models, from the most basic single cab 2wd through to the highest spec 4wd dual cabs, but the second highest selling vehicle is the Ford Ranger. So that gives you a fair indication of the market over here
