What is wrong with your Velux skylights?
I have fitted some where in the region of 100 over the years, and never ever have any hint of a problem with them.
We have 5 of the so called architectural sky lights. They leak heat faster than a boiling kettle, plus they cannot be motorised, but that is an issue the architect and builder should have sorted.

Ok. Our power use is fairly low in the farm house, it’s the heating oil that’s the big one. I wondered if you upgraded to an electric boiler on a central heating system or a modern storage heater wouldn’t that work? I’m not fully up on this

Seeing the two Tesla power pac makes me wonder what would happen if there was a house fire, wife was telling me over dinner about a Tesla car that was in an accident, not An overly serious one but short;y after the car burst into flames. Fire department used 4000 gallons of water to put it out compared to an average of 700 hundred. After it was towed to a storage compound it apparently caught fire another three time and fire department ended up tipping it over to get better access to the battery’s. Wouldn’t like to be trapped in one after hearing that.

Solar panels do not produce enough energy for heating. In the winter you would need thousands of panels to heat your house or even to run a heatpump. CHP generators are the way forward right now.
