Tesla power wall

Anybody got this system? Looking to utilise it with a already installed 70kw solar system.

only know what I've heard... for a 70kw system you'll probably need a number of them, they are aimed at home owners with 4kw roof arrays.
also not sure how they work with 3 phase. maybe you'll need 5 or 6 per phase ?
Also think there is a looooonnnngggg wait for them currently.
Pricey....

Any alternatives.

I think used EV car batteries that no longer hold 80% of their original charge will be what we'll end up using, when EVs have been around for awhile.
Not much help in the short term. tho.
Batteries for home/business use of any size still seem expensive to me (for now)

There should be subsidy or grants for home sized battery storage and if you make system smart can create a micro network that can help balance grid as necessary when required. Probably won't happen for a while but government maybe spurred into action should a rolling black out occur at some point in future.

This is the option I am looking at

It wont be until 2023 when the car is in production but it will probably take that long to sort out the various controllers for solar and hydro. At present the Victron system is looking the best solution as it still allows connection to the grid but incorporates other sources like solar, hydro and generator.

On one hand I consider built-in solar panels to be a joke but on the other hand...

This is very commendable.

In early December I found that my house really needs re-roofing. The slates are fine but there’s no felt under them and the nails are rusty and past it. Enquired about a Tesla solar roof and Power Wall for running the house and charging an electric car or two in future. Unfortunately the system is not available in the UK, according to a reply to my enquiry. I took that to mean that neither the solar roof system nor the battery pack was yet available.

Yup. Panels (50 kw) are on the farm buildings, power is down to farmhouse and cottage as well as the farm itself. 3 phase, split three ways.
Tesla battery (Power wall 2) is just on the farmhouse. In the summer this powers us completely, but in winter, dark days or at night (!) we may still need to pull a bit off the grid. Instant switch on outages too.
Imo, to ask a battery to power cars as well, may be a step too far. Unless you install two. 😂
Mole Energy installed the powerwall onto the existing system.

Ah. Thing is I don’t want panels on top of an existing roof. What I need is a new slate-looking complete solar roof, as seen on their web site. Good to know that there’s the possibility of getting a PowerWall to go with solar. Yes, I’d probably need two battery packs. As it stands though, it seems that the slates will just have to be replaced. I’m not going to replace them and have afterthought panels placed on top.

Solar panels do not like being built in, they lose efficiency when they get warm. So the more air you can get round them the better. Luckily placing them on a roof with a gap below encourages an air flow which gets faster as the panels warm, self perpetuating. Solar panels get more efficient down nearly to absolute zero, good in space. Not good for solar tiles built into roof

Well this is the one of the next ‘big things’ that Tesla is marketing.

Fine in a hot climate vent the roof , but if you have a sealed roof forget it!
I would hazard a guess that most of the USA has a hotter Summer climate than the maritime climate of the UK but colder and wetter in some seasons and regions also.
It certainly isn’t available in the UK yet anyway. There is some doubt whether it ever gets here. I don’t like the look of those ‘council-house’ type conventional panels stuck over a slate roof, so I just will not consider those.
