Battery back up is a bit of a quirk, I think its designed for Californian storms rather than UK network failure. This means its harder for it to predict when to load up on the grid energy before the power cut.

So the powerwall 2 isnt really 14kw

It’s usable capacity is about 13.5kwh, but the “speed” at which you can use it is limited to 6kw.
If you had a power cut, you’d only be able to draw 6kw from the battery at once time. Ie 2x 3kw electric heaters on at once. Over the course of 2 hours you would use 12kwh and have a nearly flat battery.

What are you trying to power?
