Could be a headache for any one man band farmer if he gets a call saying he was in contact with someone who has been tested positive with covid. 14 day standstill.

Also how are we meant to know it isnt any old prankster telling you to self isolate. What sort of proof will we get that its legit?

They need to get the app rolled out in my opinion. I think the app and localised lockdowns are a good idea to stop it spreading.

How are they going to prevent a farmer travelling during harvest? if I got stopped I would tell them my work is urgent and weather dependant, if they ignored that, I would have no hesitation in telling them to F off and arrest Cummings first.

Boris has confirmed that it is perfectly acceptable to travel, the police etc can not over rule him, we live in a democracy.

The Cumming and going law will make make the test and trace impossible to enforce.

Watching the news last night about Greece track and trace was impressive, they know where every infected person is and everyone whom they have come into contact with, said it only worked as public bought into it when asked by their PM. I’m sure it will be just as successful here - 2 months after lockdown and 3 months after the first death...

I dont think you need the app. If someone tests positive and names you as a contact you will be told to isolate for 14days. You may not actually even get cv.

Imagine gearing up for harvest or silage or even just looking after stock and getting told to isolate. Might not be so bad if your farm is away from everyone but if you are traveling through a village to get to land i can imagine you would land in the sh*t if you get caught.

Do you trust the government enough to download an app that can track you?

You will note that “track” has been dropped because people were concerned about that very fact

Lol!!! There is a place not a million miles from here that could track you wherever they so wish, I dare say they could even turn your microphone on and hear what youre saying!! GCHQ are pretty good at that sort of thing.
Cant see many pikey's downloading it mind

I'm going to need to see the proof they've actually got it and are not just on a wind-up before I go into isolation. I have a client-based business and what if I end up doing one 14 day stretch, back to work for a couple of days and then I get the good news I have to do another 14 days thanks to a different client contact? Nope. Not going to happen. My low-risk business (which I'm managed perfectly well during the lockdown) will be wiped out.

I'm not downloading any tracking app either, and will swap to a non-smart phone if necessary, or just leave the damn phone at home.

To be honest I think this will be unenforceable after Cummings. More and more stories will come out concerning people who should set the proletariat a good example but who have breached lockdown, which will just put people's backs up.

And that is exactly what we should have done. Greece collected plane loads of test kits and PPE in January (?) and used them. Greece ahs only recorded less than 200 deaths.
Instead we had 'wash your habds' to the tune of 'Happy Birthday' (twice), and then when the death toll started to rise, panic and send all the older folk back to care homes at a couple of hours' notice. No PPE , no information as to health status and no isolation.

Use general hospitals as SARS-CoV-2 hospitals, and create hubs of infection within them, and their staff, cleaners and catering people while the flagship Nightingale wards remain unused.

In fact in the pursuit of what should have been done in a disease outbreak like this, pretty much everything that could be fouled up - has been.

The test, trace isolate programme which starts at 9am this morning, is to be run by a person whose previous experience of telecomms was with TalkTalk, a company fined a very large amount of cash after a hacking scandal, which left 156,000 customers vulnerable. Just two years ago, it was branded the worst service provider in the country. https://www.moneywise.co.uk/news/2018-05-03‌‌/talktalk-rated-worst-provider-broadband-landline-service

Quite an endorsement.

If your phone is on your being tracked probably anyhow .

Well I know that - indeed there is a feature called "Find my Phone" I believe but as far as I am aware (& I may be wrong), GCHQ aren't remotely interested in me.

However IF I consciously download an app that actively tracks me and the people that i come in to contact with, then I am effectively giving approval for a whole bunch of strangers - who have been recruited ad hoc - to start monitoring what I am doing.
No thanks

BUT there is NO LAW forcing you to isolate so how many are actually going to esp if not showing any symptoms? As far as I understand it, they are going to operate this like they are for people arriving from abroad in that they will randomly knock in 1:5 doors and if you're not at home, fine you.

Would have been far better if the government had got a grip at the very beginning rather than fannying around now.

I’m gobsmacked anyone can defend our approach to the whole shambles. I’ve little faith in the T and T program, a friend of my son has been enlisted to trace, he’s been waiting for two weeks for the link to the online training, still not got it and can’t get an answer. But ultimately this should have been done when we went into lockdown, not when we are coming out and people are returning to work - I’m sure they will take notice of being told to self isolate Just as they go back to work! It’s a sh1te show of embarrassments.
