TEXEL stock tup

Currently looking for a pure bred high index texel ram that's been predominantly grass fed and run on a commercial type system but still want something with a decent carcass. Just wondering if Any one has any experience of sheep form the Pen Y Gelli flock in Wales or recommend any places to go have a look at, where they have had good stock from.

I’ve met Alwyn several times when CT scanning lambs at Aberystwyth, where he always seems to get the time slot next to me, so have time for a chat over a cuppa while lambs are being scanned.
He’s very keen on grassland management and on genetic improvement, and not at all keen on the ‘feeders’ in the pedigree world and on sheep that are bred to need ceasars.

If I were looking for a Texel, he’d certainly be near the top of my list.👍

Alwyn is a good bloke, dealt with him in the past and runs his flock on a grass based system it’s a good farm and sheep are always on good grass but they don’t see a bag of feed all of his tups are in the top 1% and I would highly recommend his stock, Alternatively I have some recorded texel shearlings and ram lambs grass fed unpushed for sale 😅

I can supply you with hardy, muscley and alert Texels, without the big heads. Born outside in April. Lambs sold to 6k last year.

Try John Uffold near Ludlow, Broncroft flock. Not recorded, but fine headed cracking sheep. He’s the auctioneer in Ludlow, so knows what the market requires.
