I tried to get insurance for shearing pedigree sheep against injury. The insurance guy told me that they couldn’t assess my ability (even with gold seal from wool board)so they can’t insure against mis haps. I am always a little nervous when on expensive tups and the eyes of the farmer are glued to you.

There was an expensive newly purchased Charollais ewe in with the flock when we sheared our pedigrees in early July.
The shearer that hauled her out of the race trailer shouted ‘do you want us to shear this yellow ‘un?’.

‘Yes’ I replied…….. ‘carefully’. :nailbiting:

I’m sure she faces more risks under my management, than ever she will on a shearing board. Although I do admit she has a dot on her shoulder so that I can specifically check she’s not cast/dead/missing ever day.
