I have three now, cost £500 at Stirling ram sale, been very good sheep, all of off one breeder, never pushed, oh and that wasn’t a price per head that was for all three,as shearling, unfortunately he did not have any last year

Which sale?

Been upto the Ram Rendezvous sale a few times for a day out. Bargains to be had and some very good stock forward for a late sale, but my own tups are usually working by then

Why wouldn’t you day trip it to Wales? You’ll be on the M6 in no time and be heading down the A483 in 4 hrs I reckon . Neilo can then show you his fine tups, you show him your chin , and back up the road !:)
Also if they grow like stink, and I’ve no reason to doubt it, you could lamb gimmers to his Char tups now rather than march when hopefully the grass is waving at you , and the sun is shining ! ( Can but dream eh !)

Not really sure where I am with lambing... but it is winding down. I've had a flurry the last few days. Should probably see what's left to lamb still, since 10 days ago, but I'm not sure I want to  should also make a start counting lambs to gauge how it's went... again - not sure I want to :bag:

Much warmer here today than last week. It's a nice day in the sun. Sat up forfa bit and enjoyed it whilst up checking the ewe hoggs this afternoon and give them a wee bite just to keep them quiet (I won't make the mistake of letting them go feral like 2 years ago!!). I'm pleased with how they are doing;

3 singles yesterday, 2 pairs today... nothing much happening. Had a ewe down with milk fever yesterday. Shes up and going. She seems fine today but the crows had a go round her eyes when she was down

Not much else happening so I've been back at the sheep pens. Definitely, definitely no going back now :ROFLMAO:

Still got to scrape the site and clean it up a bit but I've had the Alligator set up down the bottom just to see how it'll do... hurdles don't go as 'far' as I was imagining  reckon I really need another 5 or 6 - and IMO they don't supply enough pins  but I think it'll be OK.

Need to make 2 daptors for my weigh crate to fit onto the end of the race (backed right up it wont pin on, and the crate gates don't open properly, so it needs to be about 12" off the race) but the Gripper fits inside perfect and looks like it'll work fine (y)

Been chipping away sorting ewes out, they have not been cooperating with this at all this year :banghead: Got (almost) all the hill twins drawn off now and shifted up to the hill field. They'll be across onto the grass parks tomorrow - almost a full week later than last year!! Had 3 ewes lamb today so it's not all finished yet, there feels like quite a few running with nothing but I can't quite get them out by themselves so havent counted them. Remember I don't scan so there's empties aswell as ones which have lost lambs... also some will still lamb.

It's been baltic here this past 10 days to fortnight. The grass is all gone :( brother is struggling to see wheelings putting fert on! So I'm feeding the ewes again. But it rained last evening and is noticeably warmer today - and it's to get even warmer by the weekend (y)

Took these this morning whilst feeding. Really chuffed how the Suffolk lambs are doing... and the Texels. Hopefully the weather gets kinder and the lambs keep moving forward, unlike last year!!

Funny I was thinking how you were getting on this morning. And I remembered I still haven't put pictures of the charollais lambs up either

Glad I’m not alone in the no grass stakes then , and I put the troughs back out this morning and started feeding the ewes with twins !(n)

It's getting critical. I don't think I've ever seen grass disappear as fast as it has this month :( we haven't had any notable rain for a month, until last night. The springs and ditches on the hill are bone dry - wouldn't believe it after the soaking we got early March :banghead:

Things definitely feel more promising tonight though, so hopefully the weather is sitting itself out.

Jings it's warm here today! Temps been building last 2-3 days but today is a big jump in heat. Had to ditch the smock half way round the ewes (y)

Got the hill singles sorted out yesterday, so just giving them til next week and I'll get them sprayed and onto the hill (that'll be the first use of the mobile yard :nailbiting:).

One big Chev looking lamb in with the Suffolks is quite dirty bummed this morning, I'm guessing it's going to be Nemo already but I was hoping not to need to do them for another week or so

110 Hill twins have been on their summer home a few days now, finally remembered to take some pictures this morning  lots of grass up there (grass parks ungrazed since December - my hill is the background) but they're getting a wee bit feed - ewes are a touch thin looking but I'll stop soon...

Yeah that's the plan. Got the 12v Horner and I'm looking at picking up a generator so I can handle sheep anywhere now (so long as me and the dog can get them caught with the hurdles!).

I don't have too many fences here but there's 2 shelter belts cut the farm, and there's a passageway in each. We used to use gates and hurdles in them to mark the lambs back in the bad days, so I'll use the yard in them I think (y)

Don't know if you'll remember I had a moan last year - the grass parks, we have (in the lease) use of the livestock handling facilities at the steading, but the twunts have let out the shed which is part of it :banghead: well the guy who's renting it has put a car across the gate into the pens so nobody can use them at all. I reckon I will get by, and another grazier has mobile pens too... but the 3rd - who runs 250 ewes up there - has been screwed by this. I get on well with them and shear their ewes for them, but I'm not keen on the idea letting them use my new yard :bag:
