TexX ewes - which Tup to use?

It's up and going about. Gave it colostrum just to be sure, so I know it's fine until morning. Sucked the bottle pretty well so od expect the swelling to be down in the morning

The yard has been a great purchase! I do at times wish I still had a permanent yard at the farm... and setting up/packing away is a bit of a ball ache (actually the thought is worse than doing it but I almost always set up the day/night before I want to use it). We have 2 passages through trees (the one above, and the other one I usually use it in where all the other pictures are from - which is 2 fields down in the background of those pictures from last night) so they're like massive holding pens to set up in... It was very, very expensive by the time I got all the added on bits, but it's the best piece of sheep investment we've made in a very long time.

Only downside I have noticed the bottoms of the hurdles don't like being dragged over the concrete floor of the shed through the summer - there's quite a lot of wear on some of them already 🙈

Would slotting alkathene pipe over the bottom give them some armour, maybe?

Might be worth a try. As Bill says, it'll depend if it interferes with packing the hurdles away on the trailer

That’s not a bad idea at all! Might give that a bash on some of mine . Just hope they still stack on the side of the race when moving !👍👍

Do your hurdles wear, too?

I'm imagining all Ally hurdles will do it - it is a soft metal, after all... I hadn't given it any thought until I was taking the 10 back out of the lambing byre and chucked them into the telehandler bucket - probably the first time I've ever seen the bottom of the hurdles

Yep, I’ve a Portayard set , but concrete ain’t their pal . I’ll definitely try some on the bottom rail of the most used hurdles . In fact I’ve some easycare/Cheviot ewe lambs due in a week that need dagged this afternoon, so I’ll see if 25 , or 32 ml is the desired pipe to use !
And then try and cut a straight line in the pipe 😳😂

Tried a bit of 25ml. Only about 8 inch at either end . Reckon that’ll lift it off the concrete . I’ve just done the very end panel that does most of the dragging ! Should work a treat !

Looks.good. I may see at doing mine. the bottom of my hurdles are stepped anyway, so there's only 6-8inches at either end touches the ground.

But I think you'd need to do almost all hurdles as they all get pulled/shifted about a lot more than you think (or mine do anyway)

Wonder how much pipe I have spare 🤔

Or you could convert the shed floor to an ice pad. I quite fancy a TFF bonspiel and I'm sure @Bill dog would be up for it

Haven’t curled since the big shift, but I did see the signs to Dumfries ice rink on a run over to Port William about a month ago for milk powder. Many a Maxwell played there over the years !! You curl much Nithy ?

Think of Eve Muirhead with none of the looks, and half the ability! On a sliding scale I have about a third of her ability 🤣🤣
