I will pass on your patchy stylish outcasts thanks:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: but your lambs are looking well. You should be leaving balls on the some tup home bred tups always breed better than bought in jobs.

Outcast?? I'm offended :ROFLMAO: I will be keeping her

Thanks. I'm really chuffed how all the lambs are doing, considering the spring we are having.

Most of my Lleyn tups are home bred (y) but i like to buy in just to keep the blood fresh

Whats the multi vit dose you gave them.

Im pretty much done lambing now i think. Have two ive not had a chance to check but have a feeling they could lamb. Sent my 9 lleyn x gimmers to my uncles texel. Tup got pneumonia in october and has left one set of twins out of 40 sheep. Thankfully a cheviot went in later and did the job. Was only my sheep that got lambs off him too . Been really happy with my gimmers though out of the 7 that have lambed only one has had a single the rest twins and they have been fantastic mothers, which is relieving as i kept 23 of last years lambs. My % overall this year is around the 180 mark which is pleasing. Really happy i went down the lleyn route.

Suffolk lambs in, Multi vit & copper dosed.
Boluses the Suffolk tups with cobalt and selenium boluses. Thought I had an old tup of Copper needles but can't find them, or they'd have gotten them too.

I weighed a few too, whilst I was at it...

Heaviest was about 32kg (pic4) a lot of lambs running about 25-27kg.

The heaviest white lamb (single born at the start) was about 27kg (pic3)

Won't set the world alight in terms of daily weight gains. But for this farm that is pretty good and I am pleased. I will breed my own TexX ewes in future, so hopefully I can improve on growth rates.

Always happy to help with new bloodlines if you need them.

When was that 32kg lamb born?@Nithsdale Farmer , I'm sure you've got every lamb in your 're records but if your little book isn't to hand just give me a rough estimate ;)

Im pleased to see someone else having some success with the Suffolk.(y)

Are you going to keep any of the ewe lambs?

I really rate the suff x ewes, half ares are suff x welsh and problems are unheard of really. very loww maintenance and suit us well.

Here's two of are are Suffolk x welsh a few weeks ago, unfortunately a welsh tup got to them but still one had twins and they are growing well seen as they are 3/4 welsh.

This ones is a little too wooly/welshy for my liking but always rears her lambs well so get to stay.

I suggest you keep a handful to try :woot:

No, I'm not keeping any of the girls.

Iv got 3 separate flocks running on the farm now as it is (pure Lleyn kept pure, pure Lleyn put to Texels and then the texX ewes to Suffolk's). Don't want to complicate things more - or have even more lamb variation. Markets want uniformity.

Erm... oh yeah I wrote down every birth date

That 32kg lamb is a single, and I would guess it's probably the oldest Suffolk single. Looking at the calendar, it will be 7 1/2 - 8 weeks of age (the oldest Suffolk's are all twins and should be pushing 9 weeks old now).
