Gimmers turn today. Every bit as fit as they look! Maybe a touch too fit, but I'm very pleased with how they're doing. These are all in lamb, hopefully to the Cheviot and LleynxCheviot (got 1 LleynxChev shearling I kept last year, he's a smart big powerful tup, and I have 4 lambs I kept this year). Looking forward to seeing the lamb crop they leave

There's 130 in this group. Did them in a 20' long, 18" race. Just 6 at a time (it would hold 7, possibly 8, but they never push up enough)... much easier on me than in the 3' dosing race but I thought it'd be slower. Left the house at 1pm to gather them off 16acre. 1/3mile walk to the steading. They were dosed, tups pulled off and the girls were back in the field by 2:20pm

Now thats what you call sheep. Could stand and look at them all day. All set for a big scan now!

That's a good advertisement for what lleyns can be when home bred and consistently selected for good commercial type.

After seeing the thread last year I thought I would try a Lleyn on some Cheviot cross ewes. These are the resulting ewe lambs that I’m very happy with

220 inbye ewes done today. They're going well and most are in nice condition. The odd thinner one and the odd fatter one... but they aren't as fit as they were this time last year

Tups are still jumping the odd ewe so I didn't pull them off... could be a long old lambing this year.

A late lamb is better than nae lamb, mind!

See how many empties there are at the end of this month. Tups were definitely jumping 1 ewe in the pens, maybe 2. Probably should have just taken them off, but hell with it... what's the worst that can happen

Seen mind still chasing afew, cut off time after Christmas, scanning beginning of the new year so odd un may show up as empty

You’ve more patience than me. My tips get 36 days then out. I like to know when I ‘m finishing. Generally all over by 12th May

tups out on sunday coming for me, they’ll get till 27th or maybe Hogmanay if I’m generous

No patience needed. Once I'm down to the last 10 or 20 they go to x2 checks a day same as all the rest, and they can get on with it whilst I crack on with other jobs.

I am very happy. May born and much better for having there wool off and away on keep. Iv kept 60 back so it will be nice to see how they do compared to mules.

its too late this year but i think i might run a lleyn over some ewes next year, Could do with some fresh blood so a good time to try

Which Chev are they from, Hill type? Yours look to have less of the chev head than my ones (mine are from a Park tup)

They are chev cross Texel a that nobody wanted in 2018 so where dirt cheap.

Probably put at Charolais cross Beltex on them first year and if that are good ewes put them back to either a Lleyn or chev. I do enjoy experimenting with different breeds.
