TexX ewes - which Tup to use?

The easycare wethers will be going to Farmstock, so leaving the tails on won’t be an issue. Be interesting to see how much shoit ( little I hope) they gather !

Tails don’t make for a shitty arsed sheep. That’s another farming myth promoted by the old school who covered up their lack of knowledge with bull sh!t assertions 😂

Another big day lambing... A twin and 2 singles this morning 🤣 1 single was stuck, wee bit swelling but it's going fine tonight (could hardly catch the bugger!). Had a twin Saturday morning but can't remember when I had a lamb before that... still 4-5 to lamb I think (haven't gotten them out from the rest).

Had been working away putting more fert on, did 50acre on Friday but I now don't think there's any point continuing with this weather... drains and ditches are all running very dry now and the grass is looking sick :( with no sign of being given a chance by the weather. This spring is f**king shyte!

First Nemo dose for the Suffolk lambs, and the ewes were dagged at the same time, was 22nd April last year. No bloody chance I'll be doing either any time soon... but I did dig out the dirty narrow combs and cutters I used over the winter. Cleaned them up and ran them over the grinder today, so they're ready to use if I need them

Have you had your grinder about a year now?
I was just wondering if it takes a few runs to perfect getting the gear into your way of sharpening as it were . I know feck all about sharpening combs n cutters , can’t you tell ?🤦‍♂️

2 years.
Aye sortof. Discs are different between brands - Lister discs grind a deeper hollow, for example. So a couple grinds will get the metal to match the discs.

Pendulum set up etc is exactly same on all grinders (but the pendulum is set for 1 grinder, you can't interchange them without resetting them) and everyone should stand and grind the same way (hold the pendulum in the same way and apply even pressure across the comb/cutter etc)...

you've got to perfect how to sharpen the kit. Got to learn how to read the sparks off the grinder and what grind marks on the metal are telling you. I'm pretty confident I know what I'm doing, but I maybe don't sharpen enough in a year to be able to nail it perfectly

I’m needing to convince my welsh Neighbour here to get a grinder. He’s got plenty of sheep, and I’m too miserable! And sending my blades away through Harbro to get half sharpened is a PITA !🤬

Some weather were having! But could really do with a bit of rain - 9.8mm is all we have had fall in April so far. The grass that got fert, the first fields were spread 2 weeks ago now. They are actually responding and growing quite well and have surprised me. Hopefully the ground done a week ago takes a loft in the coming week.

Gathered the singles up this afternoon, sprayed the lambs with Zermasect (Dysect). They'll get slipped onto the hill tonight once I see they've settled down. Next time they're in will be for shearing

Arseholes wouldn't go through the gate into the passage, so had to do them in 3 groups

Cheers.
Mixture of pure Lleyn, 1/2 and 1/4 Cheviot crosses and Texel crosses there.

More pics as and when I dose lambs but can't really see it being too soon coming with this dry weather. But I'm very pleased with the lambs, they're looking very well

there growing very well (y)

were it you who used to say in that draught we had in 2018 or when ever "if they got sun on there backs, they'll grow"

think it were you, it were true anyway
