We have added a new section to the forum where members can advertise free of charge situations vacant or work required

It can be found here http://thefarmingforum.co.uk/index.php?forums/farming-agricultural-jobs-wanted-vacanta/

We feel there was a need for this as I'm not aware of any other free service out there that is specific to agriculture

When you post you select a prefix to the job of either situation vacant or work required and it will then show a red or green tab next to the title to help members search

You can also set preferences in that forum to only see situations vacant or work required depending upon what you are looking for

I hope it will be used and useful to many. I think it will provide an ideal way for students to find harvest work and farmers to secure both the seasonal and full time staff they require

For bigger trade employers its 100% cheaper than a page in the yellow magazine yet the position is still in front of the eyes of those potentially interested

The first of hopefully many more useful feature we want to bring to the forum over the next few months

A good idea and will hopefully help a lot of people.

Just a thought, would it be a good idea to do something similar for pest contol?

Ie:
Land owner puts a post up saying which area and what type of vermin needs controlling, and also so people can post saying which area they are available for pest control.

I know most land owners have their own guys who do the vermin control, but maybe this will be handy for the days they aren't available.

Not a bad idea, will give it some thought

My only concerns are that the shooters can sometimes be a bit annoying on the forum pestering for land to shoot over ? I don't want to diversify the demographic of the forum to far away from farmers and connected trades, such a facility would see every vermin shooter in the UK sign up which might dilute the relevance of a farming forum

Tht said it could also prove a useful service when needed but now there is nothing to stop farmers posting wanted adds in or situation vacant for a man with a gun when required

What does everyone else think ?

I must admit I did think the same myself before I posted, but if it is a seperate section in the forum then hopefully the shooters will just post in that, and Land owners will only need to view that section if they needed to.

Any posts asking for permission not in that section could either be deleted or moved to the correct section.

As I said it was just a thought, and I'm sure the ladies and gents on here could give you an idea if it would be something useful to them or not.
