So, in a moment of insanity, I got roped in to the work "Fun Runners" and "Couch to 30k" cycling.
Both graduating on the same day!!
Today was the day.... 9.00am a steady 5k run on a very frosty/slippy Victoria Park........

Then it was home for sausage, bacon, beans and eggs........ ?
Then off to the local cycle track for the 30k bike ride, sadly their technology for lap counting failed and I got a bit carried away and did 35k !! :ROFLMAO:

Off out tonight for a Christmas do with the neighbours, I`ll be the one having a nap in the corner!!

That is one heck of a pb smash, 97 seconds is brilliant (…...have you not been trying before??). It has only since I took up Parkrun that I finally fully appreciate just how difficult it is to improve on a time. Watching races on TV as a child I couldn't really understand why the person in second place couldn't make up the yard or so to take the gold medal, when in reality I now know that it is an Herculian task to make up a few yards on a fellow runner.
By the way, in all my 25+ years playing senior rugby (at a low level), I often felt I had my best games and stamina when I had imbibed too much the night before (extra calories).

23.32 today. smashed my previous PB of 25.09. what is going on. actually felt like I was going slower. after a very heavy meal last night with a skinful of beer and redwine…….

I found my new PBs went in steps. I think it's a lot to do with improved technique and efficiency.

Yep, when your lungs are bursting and legs about to give in you know about it, although we don't generally collapse through sheer exhaustion when we've exited the parkrun funnel either.

I think you're right about the extra calories. I have noticed the same on early morning weekend runs after a big feed the previous evening.

I`m "resting" until Christmas............... IT band is a bit niggly. :(

I've had IT band trouble on and off for the last year or so, although I seem to be on top of it now.

This vid helped.

I have worked a lot on technique and form too.

First park run for 10 weeks last weekend.
we went up to high bridge. On the Bristol Channel. Real hardcore run along the sea front in those high winds. Managed 26.30.whilst proper slow compared with Septembers times I was happy with it given the circumstances.

Managed two today ?
Managed 66th at my local one in a time of 26 .29
And then onto Yeovil where I was 263rd ! Out of 664!!!? time was around 28.20.
really happy to be back at it. But my goodness I’ve gone backwards!
Very pleased to be able to park run again in 2 days. Hopefully I can start going forward again ?
