How many do you get running in your park run, if you're coming 350th!:eek:
We've got up over 100 during the summer, but I expect it to drop below again as it gets colder.

@bovrill think the most we have had was New Years Day 2018 ....668.
Average is 400-500 or so!
City living..... and we have 2 in the city!

Well done on the sub 30 that`s my target!!

I was a bit disappointed when I just got this email from this morning's run.

But then I remembered they'd already set off when I drove past to the car park, and I stopped for a chat with someone halfway round, so probably not as bad as it looks!

80 runners today, just a nice amount. Not too crowded!
The winning time was 20.26, which I understand is a slow time compared with a lot of venues. We are mostly on grass, several tight turns, up and down the sea wall a few times, and a long slog up a hill through some trees. All that makes it a slower course than the next nearest one at Maldon I'm told by people who've done both.

315 at ours today @bovrill ............... I was 238th............. but.........................it was a PB !
Knocked a minute off last week so going for breaking the 30 next week!
Our course is 96% tarmac barring the start and the cheeky hill finish. :)

Winning time was 18.02 and it was the first "wet & cold" one of the year.

@Daniel Larn .... thats impressive! Done 10k on a treadmill but that is far different to boots on the ground! Well done.
Thanks, the route was fairly level this year, so it wasn't too bad at all. Her indoors wants to beat her time next year, so is keen to have us out running a bit more.

I am quite tempted to have a go at the 5km park runs to keep me going in-between, but Saturdays are a bit of a challenge for me at the moment for other commitments.

Do any of you use Strava to track your runs? No reason we couldn't have a group for that! We'd be free to run whenever that way.

Parkrun is genuinely great, it is free and absolutely inclusive. I try to do my local Parkrun when work allows and everyone is truly welcome, be it superb athletes or plodders, young or old. You can take it seriously or just run / jog / walk (even with your dog (on a short lead), push a pram or take a toddler (under 11s always within arm's reach)) and be equally as valid a participant. Lots of good people, from every walk of life do their thing there. 5k is a proper distance that any body can feel proud of completing be it under 20 mins or in well over an hour. I feel terrible doing it, I feel euphoric 5 mins after doing it (and this lasts for a couple of days) and then so excited waiting for the timing e mail to arrive later in the morning. Give it a go everyone is welcome, to run and / or to marshall. And remember cake is oftens freely available afterwards.

Boston,..... there isn't always cake, but when you see someone has bought some cake or doughnuts or sweets of some description in to share and you realise there is only enough for say 20 portions, it gives you the motivation to run as fast as you can to get some before it's gone. However, I believe many Parkruns go to a café for post race coffee/cake or breakfast if there is one local, to extend the social side of it for anybody who wants to do it, though like everything else to do with Parkruns, it isn't compulsory.

Ours must be a quiet course.

I did it in 43:03, which I was very pleased with for various reasons. That was back in March.

That put me 24th out of 26, and 5th in my age category.

My new target is under 40 minutes :nailbiting:

Would be easier if it was Sunday mornings though!

It seems a lot of our regular runners use Parkrun as a "warm up/training" for other events, generally held on Sundays such as half marathons, full marathons and mad stuff like Equinox24.
As @Aceface says its a great community spirited event where everyone can chip in and feel included.
Mrs M has been marshalling whilst waiting for the hip-op and is planning on working up to tail walking and then running in 2019.
Having targets that suit you is the way to progress. :)
