TFF Parkrun Fiends...............

Enrolled for Cardiff half marathon in March and now its a month away, and the bloody entry form dropped on post last week.

Way way out of running form and only ran 2 5 milers in past 3 months. Had to start somewhere so went out and did a plodding 10 miler yesterday evening. To my surprise managed to keep running all the way and had some tough hills. Hoping given Cardiff is flat should be ok for the 13 miler with a bit more intense training - got less than a month!

Running not really my love - prefer a bike or weights really. But good to have little targets and mix it up

Having done 30 miles mountain biking on Friday my legs where in no fit state to do a parkrun on Saturday, Having refueled on steak and beers we carried on with the second day of the Trans Cambrian route, another epic 50miles with endless climbs and thrilling descents. Pity I couldn't stay to complete the last leg but Sunday was almost as much an effort, I was having to run between the trailer and grain pusher in order to keep up as we combined though to 3am this morning. A weekend to remember! Despite everything hurting right now I feel so much better than I did a week ago :D:D

Maybe I'll give it a go....

For me there's something a bit odd about getting in a car to drive 5 miles to do a 3 mile run and driving back again. Especially as our roads aren't too bad to run on. Maybe I'm not acknowledging the camaradarie of it?

Did they do the Pencarnan runs this year James? Did you do it?

As someone who will never be "fast" or doing a marathon (except the walking type!) its the accessibility/camaradarie of Parkrun that swung it for me. We`ve expanded our social circle no end amongst neighbours and other folk that you don`t normally get to see.
You can turn up if you want to, can get as involved as you like, can just run, just volunteer and you are never last.
Introduced a work colleague to it last week, he`s South Asian, desk based, and has bad eating habits just like I did!
He loved it and is back next week, took him just under 40 minutes but its a start!

Its nearer 15 miles to Hwest for us, I know what you mean though. Yes they did Pencarnan, only 2 weeks this year, I did the 5k both weeks, had intended to do the 10k but it looked mostly like proper runners doing them.

Forgive me TFF #parkrunners I sinned at the weekend........ I was camping in Dorset drinking bad things and consuming a pig.

By way of penance I climbed to the top of the Purbeck ridge with the detecting gear and found some crusty Roman coins... :)

Why not bike there and back?

I'd be happy with sub 40 mins

Sorry team, no time for me this week. We were so short of volunteers I had to marshall "Killer Hill".... only downside to our Parkrun is we struggle to get 15 volunteers a week, but we get 450 runners turn up!!

Might do a couple of training runs this week... ?‍♂️?‍♂️:)

I really need to train midweek so myself & Mrs M are doing the work Couch to 5k starting Wednesday....
