Totally fubar`d since June.
Trochanteric bursitis.
That led to x-rays & tablets.
Now in September, still popping pills for fun.
Married to an ice pack it seems.
Still flipping hurts.
Upgrade on pills, waiting for physio appointment and orthopaedic appointment.
Start on amitriptyline tomorrow.

Its a bugger. :(

Turns out I`m "rare".
Had a serious reaction to the increased dose of amitriptyline.
Had a trip to A&E this morning, head was like a tomato !! :ROFLMAO:
I can now add steroids and antihistamines to the drug list!

Been 6 months since PR "shut"..

As one of our local Core team we have been reading the internal mails around the Re-Start Framework.
It was all going well until the full framework was released to everyone and the volunteers got to read Para 4 C

"Once we decide to open a parkrun country (or possibly region within a country) then all events in that area will be required to reopen. It will be mandatory for events to open when instructed to do so. "

Mandatory? Instructed? Excuse me parkrun I`m a VOLUNTEER.
I was not alone in that thought and they tempered the approach a bit this week saying "volunteers are going to be more involved in the process"
Then the "Rule of Six" came in....

I did think you would be fairly up to speed with it.

Almost sounds like the message got lost in translation somewhat.

I hadn't considered the Rule of Six. Is that it for now then? Seems crazy if so. If we've learnt anything this last six months, it's that exercise and fresh air ain't a bad thing.

Problem is getting the consent of the landowners especially in the current climate.
Let alone anyone wanting/willing to deal with the finish funnel.
Its spit, snot & puke at the best of times.
Then there are the other park users.................

Spring 2021 if we are lucky.

I hope you are wrong, but I fear you are right. I'm getting bored of doing the same run round our local roads, it will be nice to get back to having a bit of company.

Watched the live Q&A from HQ today.

Rule 4c from the framework was discussed.
The rule basically says if HQ decide events go ahead it is mandatory for them to be organised.

Which is fine for HQ to say so, they aren`t dealing with all the extra schmizz.

Washing of lanyards & Hi-viz every week (40 of them)
Wiping of lanyard cards every week (40 of them)
Washing of tokens 500 or so.
Wiping down and storing the kit that will have to be treated as "fomite contaminated" when its collected up.
PPE etc for the Vols.
They want extra Vols, we struggle for a bare minimum.
Half our core team aren`t planning on going anywhere near it until next year, some are shielding until October 5th.
Our volunteer FB Page has gone from 120 members to 70 or so.
And then someone has to ring the City Council and ask if 500 folk can get back too it.

Realism says that`s not happening anytime soon as we stand in the foothills of the second wave:cry:

Yep, they went a bit early with boundless optimism.
The problem they have, and don`t seem to "get". Is that every event is different so you can`t just drop a framework that will work for all.
I`ve done some tourist runs and the variety in space and distancing is massive and that is just for the runners.
As far as the volunteers go the briefing & start are fine, course marshals is fine.
The biggest issue is the finish & processing function.
Finish funnel.......... gets crowded even at our local where we make it very long.
Get token ..........then someone has to scan the barcode wristband/bit of paper/shoe tag whilst said runner is huffing & puffing. That same person on our local run will be scanning 100+ runners and we have 4 or 5 scanners.
Then someone has to take all the kit home and wash/clean it.

That said I really miss the folk we meet up with.......... and the cake...I miss the cake.. .

Thinking about it most of us are on Strava, just upload your run to your local Strava page if you want a time, it would get over the funnel/ scanning log jam and get events on again, not that i'm getting desperate or anything. Good luck with the needle, I'm sure it wont hurt a bit.o_O

That is actually not a bad idea! Until things improve no official park run, no official start time but retain the spirit. Are many park runners still keeping to their park running schedule and running unofficial park runs?

In theory just turn up anytime within 10-15 minutes either side of your normal park run start time (I have had a few socially distanced starts having arrived late so I know its not too bad :ROFLMAO: ). Perhaps an unofficial marshal or 2 could ensure staggered starts, even set up a narrow corridor that restricts the start line to filter runners one person at a time, 2m apart. Keep socially distanced at all times. Strava or stopwatch your own time if that interests you. Most of the joy of park run without the elements that pose the higher risks? Trouble is in reality I suspect we would soon all do the human thing and forget about social distancing and huddle at the finish to eat cake together :ROFLMAO:
