That bloody quorn advert

Ok who’s seen it on the idiot lantern?

Gets on my nerves (which probably means it’s worked as it’s stuck in my mind)

Lets hope we get some good adverts for quality British meat as a better alternative to that processed crap!

Only trouble is the outfit with the ‘best known brand’ in agriculture are worse than useless and probably sulking that there consultation isn’t going as they hoped.

So no doubt we will have to hope that the Norwich based condiment manufacturer comes good for British farmers like it has done in the past!

I think McDonald’s do a decent job of the whole British food thing.

But we really could do with seeing premium products advertised better. You don’t seem to see the M&S premium quality ads any more.

on their packaging here, they make a big deal about 100% Australian beef, lettuce, potato, bread etc.
Every time someone buys or eats it, they are exposed to that message

I assume they do that in the UK market as well ?

Do t go there often but can’t say I remember muck other than a big yellow M on a red box.

They do actually say they use only British and Irish beef in all their burgers, can’t recall them saying the same about wheat, lettuce etc

i dont go there myself ( mainly because I like to support small, independent, family owned local businesses & I like the variety / differences on offer. Thats the "problem" with Maccas, its the same everywhere. I like diversity ;) ), but I have picked up a lot of their empty containers.
They ARE very good customers of Australian agriculture & a quick google search finds this

Agee with your comments, I’m sure they’re equally goid customers of our produce too although I can’t say their advertising of use of our products sticks in my mind as much as yours, wether that’s because they’re not pushing that fact as hard here or because their advertising has fallen on death ears I don’t know

a few years ago they had a partnership with Australian Angus , where they had a range of "premium" burgers, heavily promoted as "Angus" beef .
I think they had a similar Angus connection in the US

current ad, the second half is most relevant

Waiting for a spoof ad:
"I have meat and two veg every day for me dinner.
Always have had meat and two veg. Then I tried Quorn
it were horrible".
I bet the Australians would soon trot out a 'retaliation ad' along those lines.

Somehow I can't see the likes of the AHDB coming out with anything like that though :(

Forgive me if you’ve heard my tirade before, but Quorn was developed from the ICI ‘Pruteen’ process in the 60’s which was looking to develop an alternative source of protein for livestock feed.

Retailing a ‘livestock feed’ at a quality meat price obviously leaves a massive profit margin to reinvest into glossy advertising, and this has allowed the Monde Nissin Corporation to convince the public that it’s safe and ‘normal’ to eat a vaguely textured ‘mush’ of Fusarium Venenatum mold.
The real trick is selling it to a customer again, after they’ve experienced just how spongey and tasteless it was the first time.

I don't watch TV much these days, but I did catch an M&S advert the other day with a Mother's Day "British Roast chicken" offer. I just had a look on their website & the menu has a choice of British Chicken, beef or pork, Scottish salmon, a vegan thing, or unidentified lamb.

Two other "food" adverts that annoy me are the the one with the donkey advertising pot noodles (donkey's piles?) and the Domino pizza one, where the father tries to be adventuresome with a take away but his wretched family will only eat pizza.

Quorn has been around since Adam was a boy. You need to focus on the word ' Competition ' not Quorn, or annoying adverts.

No its the 'Saving the Planet one bite at a time' thing that annoys me...

Really, how about beef and lamb reared naturally on the uplands eating permanent pastures that you can't grow crops on, trapping carbon, providing jobs and a rural economy whilst maintaining the land as a nice place to visit for the urban masses...

I agree, however we need to rise to the challenge.
