160 acres and a delapidated farmhouse just up the road from here 400k but terrible access.

That property has huge potential and could make a fantastic home/ bolt hole for a family.

What is the story with the access? can the buyer improve it or is it on someone else's land?

Very spooky thou that the things in the house are left just like the owner had walked out the door ( esp the coat put neatly over the chair at the table, even the paperwork is still as he left it, you would think they would have tidied it up a bit/ removed his personal things after two years.

Its a time warp and a shame to see it change tbh @GTB

I've never actually been there although it's only four miles from here. The access I believe is two rights of way through two other farms i.e. two ways of getting there, either through farm A or farm B. The old boy that lived there got taken ill and was in an old people's home when he died. One of the neighbours kept an eye on the stock I believe. The place was left to the owners family who farm locally but the neighbour who looked after the stock claims he was promised the place and has been trying to claim it apparently. One means of access is through said neighbour's land.

There was another place near here sold a few years ago, they had literally just walked out of the door, 10 years earlier, the calendar on the wall gave it away. When it was for sale the only mess in the house was made by a ewe that had jumped in through a broken window and could not get back out she had knocked chairs and tables over before dying in the corner of the kitchen, place still made £400,000 though

The place where we live now was the same when my parents first took over. My parents came here as tenants in 1971, the place was owned by ageing relatives who lived in the house. After they both passed away the place was left to father and his brother. Father bought his brother's share and when we went to clear the house everything was in place, clothes in wardrobes, plate and cutlery on the table etc etc. There was also a huge pile of rubbish outside the window where father's great aunt threw everything out. I think she had some sort of dementia and refused to leave the house. I vividly remeber she would phone my mother if she needed shopping and we had to pass everything in through the window as she wouldn't open the door to anyone. Quite sad really.

I looked at buying a farm in dover, the current owner, who had it for less than 5 years had never moved in to the house. The previous owner had sold it lock stock and barrel when they emigrated to Australia leaving everything behind but the clothes they stood up in.
The beds had been made and everything was as though you were walking into someones house with even the pictures on the walls and drawers full of clothes crockery etc. The current owner had kept heating on, so you expected someone to wlk in any moment.
