The BBC does it again!

A case in point of why we have (and need) professional farming representatives-

Just seen a young farmer interviewed on the BBC from a tractor cab claiming 80% of all UK wheat is exported to the EU and thus saying how exposed we are to trade barriers etc.

This is just wrong. She has confused the figure for exports with the whole national production figure. This figure is now doing the rounds on Twitter as the truth.

Fair play to her for agreeing to be interviewed by journalists but getting the facts right is so, so important.

I saw that this morning, and the more I thought about, the more positive I felt. The BBC gets a lot of flack on here, often justified, though I suspect that their “biased” reporting is sometimes due to the likes of the NFU not responding quickly enough on our behalf.
More could have been said by GWJ but perhaps it didn’t make the edit. For example emphasising the impact of strike on unshorn sheep and the waste of such a fantastic renewable material such as wool when it has to be shorn for the animals welfare compared to wearing “plastic”. But most of all, the vegans notion that an animal dying of “old age” is better than going to slaughter. Does she not realise that the ewe won’t simply go to sleep and not wake up, but get torn to bits by predators when she becomes too weak to defend herself?
If that was the best that the vegan could come up with to defend her “ethical” beliefs, it was a pretty poor effort and easily countered.

Like you say I think there was a lot more said that didn’t make the cut. I particularly enjoyed the lady explaining that it was still unethical to clip sheep after Gareth clearly presented her with an unharmed and freshly shorn example only to counter with “they be cold”.

To me that shows that they, vegans can be well meaning but slightly delusional.

She seemed to change tack everytime Gareth countered her argument. Desperately looking for a chink in the armour. And failing.
Did she also say she doesn't eat honey? The mind boggles!

Yes, and there is absolutely nothing ethical about letting animals live out their naturals without any care, medical attention or disposal once the inevitable occurs.

FFS they are basically desert animals and ruminants can survive happily in low temperatures...

Hopefully one day one of us will get the opportunity to quiz one of them on their use of medication. If they won’t eat honey for “ethical” reasons, they sure as hell shouldn’t be using medicines which are bound to have been tested on animals!

Or be using drugs trafficked by abused children through county lines.

But drugs are cool and free spirited so that’s fine then. Ar$eholes.

I don’t think we can accuse or assume that vegans are drug users allthough I’m sure some probably are, just like any other section of society.
I think we can assume fairly well given that Gail Bradbrook the Extinction Rebellion founder is currently organising a mass psychedelic drug taking session in central London!
