The Beltex is supreme.

I think it's all short necked ,heavy muscled breeds that get the throat thing. Texels and beltex seem to be looking for a bit more upstanding types rather than the piggy buggers to get away from the problem

Ver Possible, however he had 7 months here and looked and sounded great.

I did wonder if losing weight would be beneficial, but our one Vet who "knows" sheep said, "not a chance... Inherited trait, cull at first cough!"
Which is what they intended?
Can't really complain buying out of the killing pens. You win some you lose some🙂

Last year I bought 5 tups and I’ve only 1 alive today ☹️
and my customers moan about paying £500 for rams lasting 5-6 years on average , must be making big money on the lambs if their paying that for beltex tups and loosing half of them . still farmers wouldnt be farmers if they couldnt buy a panter at a sale like that , and then be surprised it melts away , a good story for market cant be underestimated

Why are they moaning?
You're a tolerant man of you take that crap, any customer who moans here is told to get to fùçk and gets to buy nothing.

just farmers being farmers lol they want rams for £250-300 and turn up in a new RR or pickup lol , To be fair i look after a lot in years like this , my bigger or older customers customers get better selection or bit of discount (i allow them to dip into wilton selection ) having stuck with us over the years , would have been hard in F+M years without them . My straw supplier did the same for me last winter so passing some goodwill on .

As a breeder and keeper of beltex, I think they do need a little more 'care' than a hill or tougher breed, but I do believe many a people do abuse tups (not just this breed) over work them pull them out of the ewes chuck them all back together then there not seen untill following year! Iv always got stock tups at 3 shear but I do look after them, they do get a little Molly coddling but when he is half your flock why not?

Iv got some 3/4 beltex tups they seem great hard working tups that keep there condition really well. I do leave them on roots with the ewes until scanning then put them with triplets before they get turned out in front of the ewes an lambs.

I have no issue with looking after a customer or with people shopping to a set budget, but people who moan about the price I set on an animal is something that gets me pretty annoyed pretty fast and would end in me suggesting that they go home and stop wasting their time and mine.
