The best drill or seeder for sowing grass seed

There's a lot to be said for drilling grass seed at half rate & twice at an alternate angle . Obviously slows the job down but the aim is to do the best job not necessarily the fastest.
That's how this was drilled last autumn with a 6M air drill...

I've tried using our accord, use a contractor with a knockerling and a grass harrow. Best results i get are with a teagle twin disc spreader that over laps the seeds.

This year we ploughed, flat rolled, power harrowed (don't usually but time was against us) then tume/speed harrowed ,sowed, then cambridge rolled. Oh and shut the gate.

Seems a lot of hassle to sow a bit of grass [emoji57] here plough or sumo, combi drill and roll job done

Hows the experiment going? With the weather we've had this year are you not going to do a lot of damage cutting the Maize?

The contractors trailers have left some rutting but I think it'll roll out. The grass take is very variable, good where the maize was thin and in strips where the maize was best. I think I'll get away with some overseeding.

Next time the maize is coming on some heavy clay which I'll be ploughing FYM into soon and leaning to weather over winter. I think I'll show the grass immediately after the maize on that field to get a better grass cover before the maize shades it.

All interesting though.

You don't often know for sure until you try it yourself!

Anyone used or know anything about these APV seeders? Noticed a few dealers selling them fitted on 3M tine harrows like a Rakeman.

Wondering what they would be like for sowing grass seed, in particular the disc spreader APV seeders?
