The big farm giveaway

It’s at this point @Goodbeef wished he had never started the thread ?‍♂️[emoji23]

Your not kidding, the things you do to help your brother and his mates out! It’s def not a scam, but everyone does have to be aware there are plenty of fraudulent giveaways out there, someone has already tried to imitate their giveaway page on Facebook. Plent of giveaway competitions like this that are successful, my brother and his mates arejust having to do the hard yards at the moment to get it off the ground. Like a trip to Aberdeen with some wellies and a pedal tractor! [emoji38]

It isn't a scam, it's hosted by a legitimate provider of prize draws and they are regulated by the government. They will be hoping to sell tickets for a total of more than they believe they would have got otherwise (or perhaps a loss leader to entice customers in to start a longer term business?). An interesting quirk of these 'prize draws' is they have to offer free entry, if you look in the terms and conditions you can post in your entry for free

It has to be called something. Yes it’s a draw just like the lottery but far far better odds of winning.

Ok so the tractor is owned by one of them and daddy has said he wants £20,000 for it. They sell the tickets for £26,000 this making £6000 between the 3 of them.

If they don’t sell all the tickets daddy keeps the tractor and they give the winner 70% of the take and they keep 30% themselves for hosting it via a webpage.

Wtf? Give them a break, there daddy as you put it is not involved. They have put their balls on the line and parted with their own cash to not only buy the tractor in the first place, but to set the whole thing up which hasn’t come cheap. If it was a simple as you put it everyone would be doing it.

how on earth do they get around the VAT? or do they charge it on every ticket so effectivly 'break' the tractor up into 1299 different invoices?
If they bought the said tractor from someone who isn't vat registered, there would be no vat to add on?

Yes i know how VAT works. I was asking a question specific to this case. If they bought it from someone non vat registered, id be very surprised. For the record. I actually admire what they are doing, its just the details that fascinate me!

No need to be like that, my post was a question hence the question mark at the end and nothing derogatory at you.

The only reason I asked was because a local garage was selling a second had pick up with no vat as the previous owner was not registered.

A young guy in my local town won a Subaru and hes since won a 4 series bmw all within a few weeks. One firm I know of clearing 100k easy a week in ticket sales made 29k in 3 hours. Winner took cash instead of the prize.

It's sounds like the crosswords in the sunday papers, win a £1000, send your entry via text @£4.99 plus your usual network cost. 201 entries covers the prize money.

Terms and conditioins say you need a passport, so that's me out.

Boy up here just won some sort of £80k sports car.

A friend won a fancy VW transporter/camper last year along with a £5k bike. Got the bike part of prize as cash as he had no need of the bike!

I did see a draw for a camper van the other week, which explicitly stated that is was the same camper van they had the previous week , but had been won by a 17 year oldd who was not legally old enough to enter, so the draw was cancelled
so they have sold the tickets once and now are proposing selling a second lot for the same van., rather than redrawing the first raffle?
it stinks to me.
i believe any draw has to give the promoters name and address to be legal.

Don’t worry there won’t be 44,000 entries. There is 1299 tickets available at £19.99 each. The draw is due to take place on 3/7/2020, but if all the tickets sell earlier they will bring that forward. Will post the link to the t & c’s.
