No I'd have quoted you.

Simply a sweeping statement that a lot of people outside of the UK have always seemed to have heard or seem to know a lot about everything going on.
I still talk to people in the UK and do read the UK truck forum and know about some of the stunts transport companies pull to save a quid, they do the same here. The truck forum guys are still posting screen shots of recruiting adds offering a10 or 11 quid an hour for tramping work.
Regarding the fuel job, there were enough drivers last month, now they're critically short and the army wont be enough to fix it. So where have all those drivers gone in the last month?
Perhaps the fuel companies laid a heap of drivers off because Covid meant fuel wasn't being burnt the same and now they can't get them back?

Loads of reasons....

No particular order. IR35..... A chunk of EE's gone home... People seeing the light there is more to life being maxed on the card living out of a Wendy House all week. sh!t Shift pattern so a Nesbitt can buy a fresh x at x o clock on x day.

The biggest ones preaching in the media are the large companies that have taken the pee and the company and its work is stacked up on cheap labour... Chickens are home and roosting.

Supermarkets will just chuck money at it to some extent. They are not in Haulage they are in retail. Retail will increase/absorb the price.

All that and more as the same time as the world switches back on.
