I had a brilliant agronomist and we got on well. Just one thing annoyed me about him.
What size can - 5 lts
Application rate - 1.2 lts/ha
Projected yield - 10 tonnes/ha
How much water 100lts/ha

Oh, what does it cost...
£30/ACRE
Fantastic. It’s the same with KM’s Now I know the difference but I can’t get the picture of a km in my head

The thing is, I have a foot on the end of each leg, 3 feet is a yard etc. If I want to be really accurate I have a thumb, bend it over, from the bend to the end,1 inch, simple, always worked for me.
This newfangled metric metre, centimetre garbage, I haven’t got a convenient bit of anatomy that fits but it is easy to work out with a calculator when I’ve converted the feet and inches to metres in my head.
Progress, eh!!

From the tip of your fingers to your elbow is a cubit. Noah used this when he built his ark and it is now considered to be 18" in new money or about 450mm if you have gone foreign.

50 years ago tomorrow the UK went European stopped 'old money' and went decimal.

The old British Pound was made up of 20 shillings, each of which was made up of 12 pence, a total of 240 pence
Now, thanks to Brexit, you can go back to that far simpler way of life👍

decimalisation was not introduced due to the eu but because of computerisation
at that time teaching changed it methods chanting table and learning by rote

in those days wheat was sold in tons

1 shilling a hundedweight was £1 a tonne worked really well

my father learnt decimalisation at school in 1948 so it was not that new in 1972

£1 is still £1

The UK became decimalised as part of adopting the French SI Système international (d'unités) methods of measurement used by most of the world with the exception of the US.

Wat annoys me is when people say "one pence". Ffs, pence is plural, what they should say is "one penny". Another thing is that people say "two pence" and "three pence". Technically correct of course but It was always pronounced " tuppence" and "thruppence".
